README (for v.101)
******

* Files that should be in the archive:

 - rot.exe, the program file
 - wordlist.txt, the wordlist for the "AutoRot" feature
 - readme.txt, this file

A GPG signature for the archive is available from edeca.net, I suggest you check the archive against this if you're paranoid.

* What the program does:

The program will cipher any text using a given ROTational level. Simply type (or paste) the text and enter the desired ROT level then click on "To ROT". Note that Outlook Express can only decode text ROTated to 13 places, so this is the default.

The "AutoRot" feature attempts to decode text no matter what ROT level it has been ciphered to. It does this by attempting to match words from a wordlist (see wordlist.txt) to those in the text itself. Each ROT level is given a "score" based on the number of words found in it. This is very simple way of trying to decode text and relies on what could be called a "brute force attack". Try Google for more detailed description of "Cryptanalysis".
